@HomEscape Theaters

We call them @HomEscape Theaters because ideally that’s what people want to be able to do – escape from the daily grind or “busyness” of every day life and simply relax with family or friends.  And, if you’re going to spend a lot of time in a real theater, you want it to both look and sound great, which is what we do at @Home Theater Rooms.

An @HomEscape Theater interior typically has three major components: ClassicA series hardwood-framed acoustical wall panels, matching wall and/or corner columns, and a modular soffit around the wall perimeter near the ceiling line that provides definition and depth to the room. Note that some rooms with very low ceilings or extra tall doors may not be able to use our soffit system.

ClassicA acoustical panels start with custom-milled hardwood profiles, joined to create a grand frame via a proprietary miter spline machine developed specifically for this purpose. Acoustical panel material up to 2” thick is then wrapped with our Cinergy acoustically transparent decorative fabric and the resulting finished panel is inset into the frames once they have been hand-rubbed with stained and then seal and finish clear coats.  The result? A luxurious acoustical panel product that adds to the décor of any room in an upscale home vs. making the room look like a commercial sound studio like most acoustical panels.

Our wall columns are available in 12” or 18” outside dimension widths, with the 18” wide columns able to accept many of the in wall subwoofers that have recently been introduced. An angled corner column is also available for either the front or rear corners of the room.  Columns can be manufactured to fit virtually any room height, although for practical purposes room much higher than 10’ start looking very “spindly” even with 18” wide columns. All side and rear columns include an allowance for a decorative 120V sconce –choose from a wide variety of different styles!

The modular soffit system is an important element to an @HomEscape Theater. We chose the profile – 15” wide x 8” high – for several reasons.  First of all, it looks nicer than say a square box hanging on the side of a room, and the shape is more typical to what you would expect to see in a site-built custom soffit.  Secondly, we wanted to allow enough separation between any low-voltage speaker wiring and low voltage power wiring used for the integral recessed lights.  Finally, we designed our packaging such that two soffit sections nest together to form a rectangular box similar in size and shape to our columns, thus allowing us to use the same packaging approach as we use with our columns to futher reduce your cost.

One of the more unique aspects of our soffit system is how it mounts. We developed a metal bracket that mounts to either the wall or the ceiling to carry the weight of the soffit.  Two holes are laser cut into the bracket, one to act as a chase for any speaker or AV wiring and thus simplifying the pre-wire stage of the theater, the other for any low voltage wiring for the recessed lights.  Two metal rails are attached to the soffit, one along the top inside face and the other along the inside lower section.  These rails in turn are lifted in place and simply clip on to the bracket in two locations, allowing each soffit section to easily slide back and forth as required in order to set and align the theater properly.

5” high custom-milled matching baseboard is provided for all exposed wall to floor intersections, along with a simple to install U-shaped base for each wall column and trapezoidal shaped base for corner tray columns.

Theater seating is normally provided by the AV dealer who is also handling the installation of the theater.  @Home Theater Rooms currently does not manufacture theater seating; however, if desired, we do have contracts with three seating manufacturers that allows us to provide their seating as part of an overall solution, i.e. they are not sold by themselves but only as part of a complete @HomEscape theater.
